What began on the alpine pastures of the Achenkirch mountains with hay milk has developed into an association of six farms in Styria, Burgenland and Tyrol. Producing as much as possible himself, with the highest quality standards, is part of Karl J. Reiter’s philosophy of life and enjoyment. You will taste the difference.
We breed Angus cattle and some rare breeds in suckler cow husbandry with natural jumping and animal-friendly on pastures and mountain pastures. This makes it possible to supply our hotels largely with our own high-quality beef and products from it. We process all parts of the animal and slaughter them in familiar surroundings directly on the farm.
For your incomparable breakfast egg, we have 200 hens who make sure you are well taken care of. Our chickens are free-range and move regularly to fresh grass thanks to mobile chicken coop.
Our grazing geese see the barn only as chicks and during the night (the fox is lurking). The rest of the time they graze on the meadows of the Rabenwald and consume vast amounts of the best pasture fodder and few extra rations of grain.
We keep woolly pigs, pot-bellied pigs and mangalitsa. Even if you spend many hours sleeping, their activities are a joy to watch.
At Rabenwald we also keep sika deer which are about the same size as fallow deer. The killing of the game is done completely stress-free by a certified hunter. This allows us to offer the best quality meat.
In reserve darlings of many guests, we already have a respectable herd on our farm. They love the feedings and have made themselves comfortable in their own goat chalets with climbing tower. We are especially proud of the rare breeds of black and copper neck goats, which we successfully breed.
Our vineyards are located in St. Georgen/Eisenstadt, nestled in the limestone and slate of the Leithaberg in the north of Burgenland. Here grow the fruity grapes for our great wines.
Over 65 different herbs are available to our kitchen team in their own gardens. Freshly harvested, they give our dishes the delicious touch. If you would like to learn more about them, you are welcome to take part in a guided tour.
On the own and naturally managed orchards of our farms, grow the basic products for most of our juices, jams or chutneys.
In the reserve we let beautiful wildflowers bloom to provide insects with a diverse food source. Especially bees are happy about the flowers and we are happy about the delicious honey that they provide us. Around our farms we have placed bee colonies. With natural fluctuations, these provide especially sweet honey from forest and flower splendor.
